About Us

What We Do

Further Afield is a non-profit organisation that represents independent learning providers in the UK FE sector. Our consortium is very experienced in working with Turing Scheme opportunities. Our experts have hosted 3,000+ UK FE students on global work placements under the Turing Scheme projects since 2021. Join us and take your learners further afield in 2025-26.  Join us and get represented by the experts.

Destinations for learners

The world is your oyster. Most of our placements run in the Far East – where our consortium’s team manage a network of over 100 partner hosts in Thailand, Vietnam and China. We also have options for programmes in Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland, Colombia, Guatemala, and Hong Kong.

Our founder team began running projects in 2012 – they met studying Chinese at Oxford University, and so the network has a unique China focus! 

Our Mission

Our goal is to break pathways for UK FE learners to go global and undertake fantastic work placements. We support our partner FE organisations to source funding and run global placements.

For graduates of UK FE providers that would consider TEFL or international school teaching abroad, the world is truly their oyster. Opportunities for fantastic careers abroad are abundant – we want to point UK FE learners towards these in order to broaden their horizons, build global Britain and support levelling up.

We want to open up global opportunities and access to the Turing Scheme to UK FE providers – large and small! We  work with independent training providers, colleges and even universities. We are well positioned to support our partners in winning funding from the Turing Scheme. We provide end-to-end support to make the experience seamless for our partners.
